MoiraBackdrop art: Jacqueline Ferrara Dream Pop trio MOIRA is heading out on the road this week for shows in Brooklyn, Philly and Pittsburgh, before a free Sunday appearance at Northside Tavern. But today we’re proud to present a new music video from the group for their forthcoming single, “Demons.”

“Demons” is the first new music from MOIRA since Asleep/Repeat/Awake, their stellar debut EP from 2015 that introduced the group as one of the more compelling new acts in the Southwestern Ohio music scene (the trio bounces back and forth between Dayton and Cincinnati). The band features Alicia Grodecki (on Rhodes piano, synths and vocals), Aaron Hardy (bass, synths and samples) and Patrick Hague (drums and samples).

Akin to L.A. band Autolux, “Demons” has a mesmerizing, stream-of-conscious allure, with airy atmospherics swirling around Grodecki’s ethereal, charismatic vocals and Hardy and Hague’s magnetic rhythms creating an oceanic ebb and flow. The music video’s mix of gauzy ambiance, mirror imagery and alternating fast/slow edits artfully matches the song’s bewitching vibe.

Due digitally next month, “Demons” is the result of sessions done at Middletown’s Howler Hills recording complex. A genuine DIY affair, the band produced the track themselves and Hague shot and directed the music video.

MOIRA’s upcoming dates include appearances at the Dayton Music Festival (Sept. 21), the Rhythm Brew Art and Music Fest in Newport (Sept. 28) and POST. Fest in Indianapolis (Oct. 4).
