As a native New Yorker, I consider watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade (which debuted in 1924) an unshakable tradition, and this year I was in for a musical surprise. While country western is my least favorite style of music, I heard a country song that I loved immediately. It didn’t include no confessions of infidelity, painful wailin’ about lost love, cryin’ eyes or hurtin’ hearts — a clear sign that the world is changing. The infectiously joyous “Good Vibes,” sung by Chris Janson on one of the floats, was a highlight of the parade!
