Tributes have poured in for a 19-year-old man who died after falling ill at the Creamfields festival over the weekend.

The man, named on social media as Josh Gibson, was spotted looking unwell by security staff who took him to a medical tent at the dance music festival in Daresbury, near Warrington.

Josh, who is understood to have attended Warrington Collegiate, was taken to Warrington District General Hospital in the early hours of Saturday, August 24.

But despite the best efforts of medical staff, the 19-year-old died in hospital. His family are aware and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Tributes  have poured in on social media to the young music lover, who is understood to be from Warrington and formerly attended William Beamont Community High School.

Friends posted on Facebook saying “RIP Josh” and “RIP Gibbo”, with others commenting on Warrington Police’s post to share their memories.

Jordan Sharp said: “RIP Josh, we’ve had some amazing laughs over the years especially in college, fly high up there.”

Another friend posted online: “RIP josh, you’re gonna be missed a lot, sleep tight mate.”

Detective Inspector Alistair Hinze said: “There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

“A file will prepared for the coroner and our thoughts are with the family at this incredibly difficult time.”

A Creamfields spokesperson added: “We are deeply saddened to hear of this tragic accident.

“We send our deepest condolences to his loved ones and we continue to work closely with the authorities.”

Cheshire Police were approached for a response.
