Danbury Music Centre’s ‘Nutcracker Ballet’ tickets on sale November 11

Tickets go on sale Monday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m., for Danbury Music Centre’s 52nd production of “Nutcracker Ballet,” with three performances taking place Friday, Dec. 13, through Sunday, Dec. 15, in the Danbury High School auditorium.

The Danbury Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Ariel Rudiakov, will perform the music of Tchaikovsky. There are approximately 200 dancers in the cast and 20 snowflake singers. The performance is on a professionally lit stage, with professionally built scenery and mostly all hand-made costumes, organizers said in a news release.

Artistic directors are husband-and-wife team, Arthur Fredric and Lisa Denton, from Brookfield. The technical directors are Arnold Daley and Matt Ficinus, from Danbury, and the lighting designer is Peter Petrino, from Brewster.

Danbury’s “Nutcracker” showcases talented dancers from throughout the greater Danbury area. The lead role of the Sugar Plum Fairy will be danced by Taegen Rose Smith, from Newtown. Clara will be danced by Shae McGraw, from Danbury. The role of Mother Ginger is performer by Mayor Mark Boughton.

The Danbury Music Centre’s production began in 1967 and it continues to be a favorite annual tradition. This year’s production is partially funded by the City of Danbury, the Danbury Cultural Commission, William Fricke and Anna Walter, Ortho Connecticut, BMW of Hudson Valley, Peg Heetmann and Stephen and Joan Howard, a donor-advised fund of the U.S, Charitable Gift Trust.
