One of Nigeria’s newest kids on the block, Omah Lay, has carved a space for himself in the music space, and his dominance on Apple Music Top 100 is proof.
The singer whose real name is Stanley Omah Didia came under our radar in February 2020, and from that moment on, been has given his contemporaries a run for their money.
While music arguments about new talents hover around Rema, Fireboy, Joeboy, and Oxlade, Omah Lay has decided to stamp his name in these conversations.
His debut EP “Get Layd,”, released May 22 is currently topping the charts, and quite frankly, it is a well-deserved one. His appearance is also proof that emerging acts can contend for spots on charts with the heavyweights in the industry, thanks to those who did it before him.
Many of us were introduced to this raving artist’s single titled “Bad Influence,” which is currently sitting comfortably at number one on Apple Music Top 100.
What’s fascinating is how all 5 songs on the project, a fine blend of Afropop, R&B, and shades of Highlife are all sitting comfortably on the charts.

At number one (1) on the chart is “Bad Influence,” a self-explanatory song, the lost and heartbroken artist sings, “cos the doctor said I burnt my liver, I have been drinking, smoking cigars, you still sing and play my guitar, now I’m lost in this Sambisa aaahh aaahh aaahh.”
At number four (4) on the charts is “You,” a song that sees the artist pouring out his heart to a love interest. He sings “Girl I be wahala man bad man Chuka but if U need a fire I’ll be lighter. Please be judge on put me on a trial. If u think I’ll hurt ya put me underwater. Take me to court I don’t need a lawyer.”
At number eight (8) on the charts is “Damn,” a song where the artist narrates a story of a boy whose girl loves him regardless of his flaws. He sings “She loves me when I’m drunk, she loves me when I’m jobless, she loves me when I’m wrong, even when I no need love yeah.”
At number ten (10) is “Lo Lo,” the artist unlocks his bad-boy ways with lyrics filled with sexual innuendos. He sings “Can you get yourself inside my room? Let me show you something. Something you might never want to say no.”
At number sixteen (16) is “Ye Ye Ye” sees the artist going all out to share a panty dropper. The lyrics to the song will leave a sexually starved person vulnerable. He sings “The way I lick her clean, she thinks I’m a laundryman. The way I eat her thing, she think I be animal.” This song will definitely make it on sex playlists.
Overall, Omah Lay has proven that he is ready and it shows in how he has applied himself to his art.
