Here’s a sweet deal for anyone who could use an Echo Dot: Amazon Prime members can get an Echo Dot and a one-month subscription to Amazon Music Unlimited for just $8.98. That’s a cool $41 off the normal price of the Dot alone, and far lower than it’s ever gone before, including on Black Friday. The only restriction is you have to be a new Amazon Music Unlimited subscriber. And if you don’t want to continue your subscription, make sure to cancel before you’re billed for the second month.

The Echo Dot is a miniature Echo. It has all the same functionality as the standard Echo, but it’s smaller and much cheaper (especially with this deal). The only real drawback is that, because of its size, the speakers aren’t great. Thankfully, you can plug in any speaker and it’ll work great. It also comes in your choice of four color options, ranging from charcoal black to plum.

I have two Echo Dots, and I use them constantly to listen to music, stream local radio stations, ask about the weather, add items to Any List, and change the thermostat. It’s one of the few devices I’ve come to rely on every single day. It’s seriously fantastic.

Amazon Music Unlimited is Amazon’s version of Spotify. It has pretty much any song you’d want to listen to, plus artist-based stations and playlists and everything else you’d expect. It works great with the Echo — just ask Alexa to play whatever song’s stuck in your head, and it starts playing.

To reiterate, this is a very, very good deal. It’s the best deal we’ve ever seen on an Echo Dot, so if you’ve thought about trying out a smart speaker, this is the cheapest way to do it by a long shot.
