A Hitch to the Sticks festival to fill void of city’s traditional Jazz Festival weekend

WITH more tickets sold this year than last, the A Hitch to the Sticks festival is set to see people enjoying family fun, community spirit and lots of good music this weekend.

Rural City of Wangaratta manager of arts, culture and events, Penny Hargrave, said council’s backing of the festival – to the tune of $60,000 in the wake of the absence of the traditional Wangaratta Festival of Jazz and Blues – was part of an events strategy launched last year.

“The strategy talks about supporting major or marquee events which have the potential to bring lots of people to Wangaratta, that play to unique strengths of the rural city and promote Wangaratta as a destination,” she said.
