A magic show and music party are two of the big family events that wrap up the summer at the Brantford Public Library.
On Aug. 19, at 2:30 p.m., the Amazing Corbin will visit the main branch to present a 45-minute magic show that will feature wonders from the natural world. The award-winning magician has performed vintage-themed magic shows across North America.
Also on Aug. 19, there will be a reading and activity event at 10:30 a.m. that encourages kids to use their imagination to transform boxes into fun objects, such as rocket ships and race cars.
Then, on Aug. 26, there will be an end-of-summer reading party at the main branch beginning at 2:30 p.m.
This party will feature a bubble-themed music performance from entertainer Bumbling Bert, who has visited the library in the past and is a family-favourite.
The library also has regular programs planned for the rest of the summer.
On Aug. 20, there will be a science lab event called Gross Science. Also on Aug. 20, there will be an event where kids can learn about different foods and learn how to make delicious snacks.
Then, on Aug. 23, the movie Mary Poppins Returns will be shown on the big screen on the third floor of the main branch.
The TD Summer Reading Club runs until Aug. 31. Kids can still sign up and participate for this summer-long reading program. Every child that signs up gets a welcome package that includes a free ice cream coupon from Dairee Delite. Also, once they report their reading, the kids are entered into draws, including an end-of-summer grand prize of one of two coding and circuit kits and an Indigo gift card.
Looking to next month and beyond, the library continues to host kids events, including a PA Day event on Sept. 13.
All children’s events at the library are free and all programs mentioned in this article, except for the reading club, are drop-in. Kids can register for the reading club online or at either library branch.
