Louis Tomlinson took a bit of a swipe at One Direction’s music as he branded it “vague”.
The singer said the songs he released with bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan – who were put together on X Factor in 2010 – didn’t mean anything and were simply designed to appeal to the masses.
The 27-year-old says the songs were just about getting No1s and nothing else, and that he never enjoyed writing them.
He said: “Being in a band like One Direction, and the type of band that we were and where we came from, it’s not real.

“You’re aiming for as many No1s as you can possibly get, the biggest deals. Everything is on such a massive scale.
“The One Direction stuff wasn’t straight forward, but an element of it was because you’re doing songs that are relatively vague so it fits into four or five personalities and it’s automatically less personal.”
Louis is much more proud of his forthcoming debut solo LP Walls.

He said: “So when I sat down and I listened to my album when it was finished I felt super proud because I know how long and how many little things I’ve changed throughout the way.
“My lyrics are real, and relatable as I can be. Lyrics are important to me so I’m happy my words can make people feel something.”
Despite their “vague” music and three-year hiatus, the 1D boys are still earning a whopping £38,000 a week from their days in the band.

And the boys have continued to watch the money roll in from their solo careers too.
Liam recently said there was “definitely” competition between him and the other 1D members as they battle it out in the charts.
The lads decided to take time away from the spotlight in August 2015 after a record-breaking five years, which was expected to last around 18 months.
