Musicians John “Duffy” Morton and Chuck Wencl have been missing playing music in a front of people. So, they decided on Thursday afternoon, May 21, to take their tunes to the streets in downtown Alexandria.

Sitting on a bench between Hennen’s Furniture and Kyle’s Barbershop on Broadway Street, the elderly gentlemen cranked out tunes on their instruments – Morton playing the baritone horn and Wencl on saxophone.

Both men play in bands, including The Velvet Brass and Katy’s Swing Band, which is the Alexandria Senior Center Big Band named in honor of Kathryn LeBrasseur, a longtime Alexandria resident.
