A chamber performance by members of the Timmins Symphony Orchestra was held Saturday in memory of James Kenneth Alexander on Saturday at the Timmins Museum.

The performance at the Timmins Museum featured TSO music director Josh Wood and Roy Takayesu, both on French horn, accompanied by Sue Steel on piano.

Alexander, who passed away on Sept. 4 after being diagnosed with cancer, was well known in the community as a Timmins lawyer.

Perhaps less known was his involvement with a number of local organizations. He was a long-time supporter of the TSO, and had served on its board of directors as well as on the Timmins Chamber of Commerce and the Timmins and District Hospital.

Alexander’s wife Anda, who attended the performance, said the musical tribute to her late husband was “very special”.

“My husband would have just loved it so much,” said Anda. “He has been a great supporter of the orchestra.”

About 30 people attended the free chamber concert performance at the museum.

Wood was pleased with the turnout.

“We had a very nice crowd and I am surprised these many people turned out as I didn’t expect it to be this many.”

Wood recalled Alexander as an incredible story teller and engaging speaker with a breadth of knowledge on many topics.
