IVINS — This Saturday night, enjoy music made especially for an intimate gathering at the Center for the Arts at Kayenta in Ivins.
Soirée Musicale literally means “an evening of chamber music” — music written to be played in intimate settings. The Lorraine Boccardo Black Box Theater is the ideal setting for families to come and enjoy the spectacular sounds of the piano, violin, viola and cello played together, according to a press release issued for the event.
The center is showcasing the world-class talent of musicians from the region; on piano is Christian Bohnenstengel, director of keyboard studies at Southern Utah University; playing violin is Urs Rutishauser, director of the Chamber Music Society of Southern Utah; on viola will be Linda Ghidossi-Deluca, head of the Vista Music Program.
The quartet will open with the first movement of the String Trio Opus 9 No. 1 by Ludwig van Beethoven. Next, they will play two of the finest works of the classical and romantic traditions: the Piano Quartet No. 2 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and the Piano Quartet Opus 47, which bridges the romanticism Robert Shumann had for his wife Clara.
According to the press release, the evening promises to be an unforgettable experience for music lovers of all ages in a theater filled with the music of Mozart, Beethoven and Schumann.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 or $10 for current students and can be purchased at online.
