The American Music Awards 2019 took place in Los Angeles last night and the annual ceremony was full of awkward moments, bold statements and celebs slaying on the red carpet.

Among the stars making their mark was Christina Aguilera, who went full glam in a white embellished Jean Paul Gaultier gown with a hood, huge shoulders and long sleeves. The bold dress featured a wide buckle belt and multiple layers. The pop legend rounded off the high-fashion look with layered necklaces and pearl rings.

As well as making a big statement on arrival, she also joined A Great Big World to deliver a powerful, pitch-perfect performance of their new song ‘Fall On Me’. That and her dress = a hell of a lot of fan love.

“This is a damn SERVE. No one else brought it like her tonight! Anyone can wear a cute dress. This is unique and stands out I love it,” one fan tweeted after spotting her red carpet look.

While a second mused: “A Goddess!! SERVE of the evening you did what you had to do.”

However, not *everyone* was feeling her red carpet look.

“I love me some @xtina but wtf … I did not love what they put her in. Poor thing was draped like a curtain from Gone With The Wind. She is a treasure… dress her like the fucking boss lady she is! Her voice is AMAZING! But someone slap that stylist,” wrote another.

And: “What is @xtina wearing? Looks like when you use your mother’s sheets/curtains/fabric and pretend it’s a dress.”
