The singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, 29, took to his Instagram on Monday evening to tease what his upcoming album.

But, it seems as though he’s drawing inspiration from one of his famous ex-girlfriends, Selena Gomez, 27, after registering an upcoming song titled, Like Selena, to a US public performance organization, according to ASCAP.

The Can’t Feel My Face singer shared a blurry picture to his account with the caption, ‘the fall starts tomorrow night.’

He also took to his Instagram Story with the same black-and-white shot that said: ‘tomorrow night we start again.’

While he seems to be keeping his lips sealed on the upcoming tracks, fans of the rapper were quick to remember that The Weeknd and the Disney Channel star dated between January and October 2017.

The former flames made their relationship Instagram official back in April 2017 after attending Coachella Music Festival together.

‘I really am [happy]. It’s great. I don’t depend on one area of my life to make me happy,’ she said at that time during an interview with InStyle.

‘It’s really important for me to love and nourish my friends and family, and to make sure that I never get influenced by a guy. I’ve wanted to be in a strong headspace for years, and I really wasn’t. Before, I was so young and easily influenced, and I’d feel insecure.’

‘You want someone to add to your life, not to complete you, if that makes sense,’ she said about the new man in her life. ‘I’m lucky because he’s more of a best friend than anything else.’

Just months later, the couple met their fate and their relationship ended.

He released his album My Dear Melancholy just months later the following March and opened up about the split.

You want to get it out. It’s like you close a chapter,’ he said during an interview with Time Magazine.

‘[But] I don’t want to open that Pandora’s box, talking about relationships. Prior to Melancholy, I had a whole album written, done, which wasn’t melancholy at all because it was a different time in my life.’

The album appeared to have many Gomez references on songs such as Call Out My Name and Starboy.

While the two have been broken up for nearly two years, The Weeknd has most definitely moved on and gone back to his on-again-off-again girlfriend, Bella Hadid, 23.

Bella and the hitmaker were last spotted out together back in October just months after announcing they were splitting up again.

Neither Bella nor The Weeknd have spoken about rekindling.
