Lionel Richie, Westlife and Madness are to head up a festival first next summer with the debut of a event which is set to be welcomed by North East music fans.

The top drawer line-up has been announced for the first ever York Festival which is bringing international star Richie to the region to wrap up a three-day spectacular t which will run from June 19-21.

And with the city being easily accessible from Newcastle , it no doubt will see plenty Geordie fans snap up tickets when they go on sale this Thursday.

Music legend Richie was a huge hit with Newcastle audiences when he last played Utilita Arena in 2015 and this summer saw a similar response to city appearances from both Westlife – who also played the Arena – and Madness who added the music entertainment on Northumberland Plate day.
