The music culture is fast-evolving and so is fresh talent. Over time, the music scene has grown to become more diverse and creative giving different artistes the opportunity to develop their craft.

Below is a list of five musically talented female artists that have engraved their names and music in their audience’s hearts:

Sho Madjozi

Sho Madjozi.

Fast-rising South African rapper Maya Christinah Xichavo Wegerif popularly known by her stage name Sho Madjozi catapulted to stardom not too long ago after releasing a Swahili song dubbed John Cena, named after the WWE wrestler John Cena.

Appearing on 10 over 10 a while back, Sho explained that she had lived in Tanzania for a while hence her impressive Swahili.

Madjozi’s song which was released about a month ago has garnered over 3 million views on YouTube and has been turned into a dance challenge which fans love so far.  American comedienne and television host Ellen DeGeneres invited the WWE wrestler to her show The Ellen Show and made him dance to the song.

The rapper was recently awarded a Black Entertainment Television (BET) Award as the Best New International Act beating her competitors.

Other than John Cena, Sho Madjozi has released other songs that have given her the opportunity to be recognized as the Female Artist of The Year in the South African Music Awards.

Back to Kenya, our very own BeyT who is also of Ethiopian and Eritrean descent has been giving a number of artists a run for their fans and money.  

The emPawa Africa’s accelerator program finalist became popular after releasing Wololo, a laid back track.

At one point, BeyT and Diamond Platnumz’s girlfriend Tanasha Donna got into a social media brawl over the tag line ‘Kenya to the World’ which prompted the rapper to release a song dubbed ‘Don to the Donna,’ meant to diss Tanasha.

The beautiful and talented BeyT was recently featured on Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones’s hip-hop cypher dubbed Khali Cartel 3 alongside Ethic Entertainment’s Rekles, the lyrically-acclaimed Silverstone Barz and other talented upcoming rappers.

This has increased BeyT’s music demographics as more people have gotten to know her and appreciate her music.

Petra

Kenyan rapper and former Taurus music signee Petra Yolanda Sonia Bockle popularly known by her stage name Petra considers herself an international force to reckon with, other rappers better watch out because she is coming in hot.

Working with the big shots in the rap industry like Khaligraph Jones on the track Rider, Petra is proving she is indeed self-driven and has plans of making her music internationally recognized.

“I’m not a local brand and that is how I have set my mentality. Everything I do I want it to be perfect,” she said during one of her interviews.

The rapper recently released a song with Tanzanian sing Ommy Dimpoz dubbed One and Only which has garnered over 300k views.

Nandy

Tanzanian singer, songwriter Faustina Charles Mfinaga AKA Nandy has taken the music scene by storm, no lie.

The talented and ambitious singer started off as a contestant at a music show and has since then slowly but surely risen to fame over time.

The singer, who was rumoured to be dating Kenyan singer Willy Paul has had her share of controversies but has not let that get in the way of her music.

The duo has released two songs together coupled with electrifying performances that have left both their fans wanting more.

The Kivuruge hitmaker’s Nandy Festival which fell around the same time as the Wasafi Festival attracted thousands of fans, proving once again she is headed for greatness.

Jovial

Sassy Kenyan songbird Jovial is definitely not here to play. Rising to fame after linking up with fellow musician Otile Brown and doing a number of collabos, Jovial has won the hearts of many.

Unfortunately the singer and Otile Brown fell out and as a result, forced to quit JustInLove Music Record label where she was signed. Jovial went on to pick herself up and release a song dubbed Deejay that has done quite well and put her name on the map of fast-rising, talented musicians.

The curvaceous singer has made her intentions of becoming the best in music through hard work, promising to give nothing but her utmost best to her fans.
