Fast-rising South African rapper Maya Christinah Xichavo Wegerif popularly known by her stage name Sho Madjozi catapulted to stardom not too long ago after releasing a Swahili song dubbed John Cena, named after the WWE wrestler John Cena.

Appearing on 10 over 10 a while back, Sho explained that she had lived in Tanzania for a while hence her impressive Swahili.

Madjozi’s song which was released about a month ago has garnered over 3 million views on YouTube and has been turned into a dance challenge which fans love so far.  American comedienne and television host Ellen DeGeneres invited the WWE wrestler to her show The Ellen Show and made him dance to the song.

The rapper was recently awarded a Black Entertainment Television (BET) Award as the Best New International Act beating her competitors.

Other than John Cena, Sho Madjozi has released other songs that have given her the opportunity to be recognized as the Female Artist of The Year in the South African Music Awards.

Back to Kenya, our very own BeyT who is also of Ethiopian and Eritrean descent has been giving a number of artists a run for their fans and money.

The emPawa Africa’s accelerator program finalist became popular after releasing Wololo, a laid back track.

At one point, BeyT and Diamond Platnumz’s girlfriend Tanasha Donna got into a social media brawl over the tag line ‘Kenya to the World’ which prompted the rapper to release a song dubbed ‘Don to the Donna,’ meant to diss Tanasha.

The beautiful and talented BeyT was recently featured on Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones’s hip-hop cypher dubbed Khali Cartel 3 alongside Ethic Entertainment’s Rekles, the lyrically-acclaimed Silverstone Barz and other talented upcoming rappers.

This has increased BeyT’s music demographics as more people have gotten to know her and appreciate her music.

Sassy Kenyan songbird Jovial is definitely not here to play. Rising to fame after linking up with fellow musician Otile Brown and doing a number of collabos, Jovial has won the hearts of many.

Unfortunately the singer and Otile Brown fell out and as a result, forced to quit JustInLove Music Record label where she was signed. Jovial went on to pick herself up and release a song dubbed Deejay that has done quite well and put her name on the map of fast-rising, talented musicians.
