Currie native takes part in South Dakota County Music ‘Hall of Fame’ event – Murray County News

Currie’s Mary Molitor had the opportunity to be on stage and perform with country musicians.

The South Dakota Country Music Hall of Fame (SDCMHoF) presented the 2019, 16th Annual Awards, in a two-day ceremony at the South Shore School at South Shore, SD.  The festivities began on Friday, September 13th at 6 pm with a country music jamboree open to all country musicians called “The Hall of Famer’s jam” since the house band was made up mainly of prior inductees.  Proceeds from the benefit held were designated to the Opry House & Museum in Lennox for building expenses.  The inductions and awards were held over two days; Saturday, September 14th beginning at 6 pm and Sunday, September 15th beginning at 2 pm.  All events are free-will offering with proceeds from the benefits going to the hall of fame expenses.

The events for 2019 were dedicated to the memory of Jon Richter who passed away February 12th, 2015.  Jon was a long-time musician from the Lennox area.  He was taken from us due to violence in the workplace.  Jon loved working with kids, enjoyed many country events such as rodeos and bull riding, and was a guitar enthusiast.

2019 Inductees were: Charles Badger Clark – (Posthumous) Plankinton/Lead; The Lundstroms – Sisseton/Peever; “Suns of the West” – Neil & Jenni Bagaus Milbank/Groveland Fl, Terry & Deanna Bagaus, Milbank/Woodbury, Kim & Marcie May, Milbank/Kearney, Larry Berg, Webster, Edie Sandmeier, Crystal, Terry Foster, Waverly; Stan Swatek – Lake Andes; Jarett Larson – (posthumous) – Watertown; Yancey de Veer – Las Vegas – formerly of Deadwood; Joel Koustrup – Waverly;  Terry Foster – Waverly; Delaney Johnston – Deadwood (formerly of Summit) “Rising Star Award”;  James Jacob Artz – Rapid City (posthumously);  –  Other 2019 award winners include:  Lifetime Achievement Award – “Boomer” Darrel Hoiland – Brandon; Gospel CD of the Year – “Kimberly Kaye Old Time Gospel” – Kim Bachman, Belle Fourche; Gospel CD of the Year – “Who Can This Be” – Deach Koch, Gann Valley; CD of the Year – “The Music of Badger Clark Vol II”  Pegie Douglas and the Badger Sett Band, Hill City ; Road Warrior of the Year – Patti Graffunder – Cokato; Songwriter of the Year – Edean Landmark, Watertown; Songwriter of the Year – John Mills, Volga; and Promoter of the Year: Strawbale Winery – Don & Susie South – Renner.
