Downtown Abu Dhabi reverberated with the beats of Punjabi dhols (drums) and Bollywood music as the city marked Diwali. Decked up in lights, Capital Park hosted the three-day Diwali Night Market as part of Abu Dhabi Moments – a curated calendar of events created to build a strong sense of community spirit.

On Saturday, officials from the Department of Community Development and Indian Embassy; and residents came together.

Mazen Al Dahmani, director of sports division, Department of Community Development, said the massive crowd exceeded expectations. “We have tried to capture the essence of Diwali and bring it to Abu Dhabi for the community to celebrate. On the first day, we had 18,000 people.”
