Evelyn’s Park to host 2nd annual Local Music Festival
On Friday, Oct. 11, and Saturday, Oct. 12, Evelyn’s Park will host the second annual Local Music Festival.
The family-friendly event will showcase a variety of local Houston bands, emerging artists, and even student musicians. More experienced acts returning to the stage this year include Bayou City Swing, The Over-Commitments, Vital Signs, Acoustic Trails Band, and Mathias. Last year’s debut festival had over 6,000 people in attendance and an even larger crowd is anticipated in its sophomore year.
The festival kicks off on Friday night with emerging artists playing from 5:30 to 10 p.m. in front of Betsy’s. On Saturday, the bands will take the main stage on Evelyn’s Park’s Great Lawn, and will play from noon to 10 p.m. Sets will last 30 minutes to an hour.
“The power of music is an incredible important and unique tool that creates memories, bonds people together – making Local Music Fest a community event becomes a magical, memorable experience,” says Park Director, Patricia King-Ritter. “This Local Music Festival is a great way to remind the community that the park is active year-round. We have live music every Friday evening in addition to many other family activities.”
This festival is one of Evelyn Park’s main fundraising initiatives for the year. Major sponsors of Local Music Festival include Rubenstein Foundation, Acme, PV Rental, BBVA, Connectivity Source, Pasadena Insurance, BBVA, and Frost Bank.
General admission to the festival is free. VIP tickets are $100, which grants you entrance to Saturday’s VIP tent where concertgoers can mingle with performing acts and enjoy complimentary food and drink tickets. The festival will feature food choices from Adair Concepts (Skeeters, Los Tios, Adair Kitchen and Betsy’s). Concertgoers can also tailgate at the Park on Saturday at Local Music Festival’s “Biergarten.” College football games will be shown on a large screen TV.
