Music on the Lawn – another COVID-19 casualty

For the first time in 20 years, there will be no Music on the Lawn on Sunday evenings from late June to the end of August on the front lawn of Annandale House National Historic Site.

Ross Thompson, a member of the Tillsonburg & District Historical Society at the time, started Music on the Lawn in Tillsonburg as a fundraiser for the Historical Society. Music on the Lawn has become THE major fundraiser for the Society, but due to current government COVID-19 restrictions on gatherings, the Historical Society had no choice but to cancel the series for 2020.

The Historical Society thanks entertainers Blue Sky, Braided Together, Back to the Fifties, George Fulop, the North Shore Ramblers, and David Wells for understanding and agreeing to perform in the summer of 2021.

“Thanks to our sponsor, the Tillsonburg Retirement Residence, which has supported Music on the Lawn for many years,” said Historical Society’s Joan Weston. “The final thanks go to all members of the community who faithfully attend Sunday evenings and make the concert series a success each year.”

At this point, the annual Back to the Fifties Christmas Dance at the Tillsonburg Legion on Saturday, December 5, 2020 is still on the calendar. Keep your fingers crossed!
