Popular country music singer Kylie Rae Harris killed in car crash

A popular country music singer who was set to perform at a New Mexico music festival was killed in a car crash Wednesday. Deputies with the Taos County Sheriff’s Office responded to the three-car crash on State Road 522 around 9 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, they found two drivers dead on the scene. Sarah Hearne, with the Big Barn Music Dance Festival, told KOAT that one of those victims was 30-year-old Kylie Rae Harris of Wylie Collin, Texas. Harris was set to perform Thursday at the event.Hours before the crash, Harris took to Twitter writing, “Fuel range is 46 miles and I’m 36 from the nearest gas station Dear baby Jesus please don’t let me get stranded in NM.””We are heartbroken to confirm that Kylie Rae Harris passed away in a car accident last night,” Harris’ publicist said in a statement to Billboard. “We have no further details to share, and ask for privacy for her family at this time. Everyone that knew Kylie knew how much she loved her family and, beyond that, how much she loved music.”A 16-year-old girl was also killed in the crash, investigators report. Her identity has not been released.The third driver escaped injury.While the exact cause of the crash has not been determined, investigators believe alcohol may have been involved.
