The film’s plot centers around the duo having to live up to their as-yet-unfulfilled potential as the world’s unlikely saviors.

The trailer begins with The Great Leader (played by Holland Taylor) admonishing the pair for having once played a concert for ‘the entire world’ but since underwhelming with their attempts to unite Earth through music.

‘One month ago, you played in Barstow, California for forty people, most of whom were there for two dollar Taco Night.’

‘Why can’t we just go to the future, when we have written it?’

‘And take it from ourselves,’ adds Winter’s character.

‘But isn’t that stealing?’ wonders Ted.

‘How is that stealing, if we’re stealing it from ourselves, dude?’ rationalizes Bill.

The duo then travel through time, using the series’ iconic phone booth-shaped time machine.

The trailer ends with the duo meeting jacked versions of themselves in what appears to be a prison yard.

Future Bill and Future Ted beat their chests as they finish playing their song for their fellow prisoners, with their present day iterations listening on.

‘How’d you like our song?’ asks the ripped version of Bill.

‘It’s a little on the dark side,’ replies the skinny version of Keanu, ‘but y’know, that’s cool.’
